Asparagus is an excellent source…

Asparagus is an excellent source of folic acid and vitamins, and is low in fat, calories and carbohydrates. Though this article from the BBC talks about the virtues of English asparagus, there's lots of information for those of us outside the UK. Includes some tasty recipes to prepare while this member of the lily family (yes!) is in season.

  1. Forgive my vulgarity…
And a day or so after you eat asparagus, you’ll invariably be reminded of your asparagus laden meal, since your pee will smell of the veggie. :-]
Asparagus is great because you can steam some up and add an easy sauce and it’s tasty, tasty, tasty!

  2. My fiancee mentioned about the smell, I didn’t notice anything. On the day before we were eating in a restaurant an asparagus plate, consisting of small courses, and as much asparagus as one whiched.

  3. Asparagus pee doesn’t happen to everyone though, only some people. And after a quick check at Wikipedia’s asparagus page, it looks like:
“The odorous components may be produced only in some people. If present, the odor will only be detectable by the noses of some people. Recent studies suggest that every individual produces the odorous compounds, but that only about 40% of individuals have the genes required to smell the odor.”
