I'm ready for a food pill

The problem with food is that most of the time it's a pain in the butt.

If only I had the time to say what I meant

Apologies for the lack of updates around here lately, feels like I don't have much to say these days, or if I do, it seems like it's really long and will take too long to write down. Maybe that will change...

But what does this mean?

Things are *really* happening!!!!

So smart that pb

I think I'd like to join pb's new school of Zen based on XML. Sounds like just my kind of thing.

A redesigned for you

New web site New web site New web site!!!! redesigned and better smelling. [I seem to be repeating a lot these days, I wonder if my mind is becoming unstable? Or more unstable than usual?]

A scary thought

Walking to work, I passed a group of people standing outside the building next to ours. It happens to house For some reason, I pictured a new SOMA industry: "Maps to the Start-ups' Homes" and imagined this was the tour..."Now, on your left you can see the headquarters of Wired, and down the street, we'll stop at Pets.Com. This way, please..."

Interesting Boston fact

The virtually unknown story of the near collapse of the John Hancock tower in Boston. Wow! [via Lake Effect]

Challenge your brain

I'd "played" Craig's U2 brain teaser a while ago. I redid it tonight, sure is fun! Can you figure it out?

Blame it on the metric system

If only we'd stuck with the metric system in the seventies, this would never have happened. Poor lost orbiter.

Give me a robot buddy

Robot Buddies! - cool, little robots to help out astronauts in space. When can we get them here on earth? I hope they come in more colors than just red. [n.y. times, registration required]

It's about control, not choice

"The preservation of life seems to be rather a slogan than a genuine goal of the anti-abortion forces; what they want is control. Control over behavior: power over women. Women in the anti-choice movement want to share in male power over women, and do so by denying their own womanhood, their own rights and responsibilities." - Ursula K. Le Guin

Mark your calendar now

October 5 is National Techies Day!

A quick and easy solution

State considers lowering standard for graduation - educators predict that many Massachusetts students will not graduate based on test results to date, so they want to lower the standard. I guess that is easier and cheaper than the alternative: raising the quality of education. I'm almost embarrassed to be from Massachusetts!

Photos from New Year's party

Something to keep in mind

If you want to make the Internet entirely appropriate -- whatever that means -- for children, it will be appropriate only for children - Dan Gillmor.

What's happening to language?

When she said yes, they blew her away - each day it seems I notice more and more "Rambo" language in news articles to describe violent situations. No wonder we as a culture are desensitized to violence when this type of language is used to describe the murder of a young woman. Why do journalists employ the callous language of gansters and action heroes? Have we no respect for the loss of life? [via]

Last minute party hosting jitters

I've decided that I don't like having parties. Mine is tonight, so maybe I'm having last minute jitters or something? I don't know, seems like lots of work, lots of money, and....guess I'm not feeling too optimistic about this evening.

I'm not average

I was thinking about the stat I posted yesterday about the average person's web use, and I realized I'm the opposite: I use the web once a day, and I stay there for about 13 hours.

Another megnut to read

Alright, to add to the confusion of having too many places to post (company blog, this, discussion fora, etc.) I created, but it's only because Andrew's so funny and I have a secret crush on him and his eggpost cracks me up every time.

A pre-emptive New Year's party

I'm having a New Year's Eve party tomorrow night. Figured since New Year's is always stressful, and overly planned, and often a let-down, I'd get it out of the way now. In the Bay Area? Wanna come? Email me for directions.
